#TotalPickEm Recap: Week 16

From nearly having a perfect week to hitting .500, the #TotalPickEm in Week 16 didn’t go totally to plan.

The Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders were able to come out on top in their respective matchups while the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes couldn’t quite get the job done, leaving the record for the year at 46-15.

Hamilton 33, Winnipeg 13

In a battle between the respective division leaders, it was the Beasts of the East that came out on top.

Dane Evans continued his streak of hot play, tossing for 358 yards and three scores through the air for the Tabbies (11-3). Chris Streveler also threw for a career-high 304 yards but it wasn’t enough to get the Bombers (9-5) the victory.

The Ticats have just one road game remaining on the season. They’ll try and go perfect on the season at Tim Hortons Field in their three remaining games against Edmonton, Ottawa, and Toronto.

PICK: Incorrect

Edmonton 21, Ottawa 16

Edmonton certainly didn’t have the easiest time in the nation’s capital, but they did leave TD Place with the win.

Logan Kilgore did manage to outduel the pair of Dominique Davis and Jonathon Jennings, who split snaps for the REDBLACKS (3-11). The Edmonton defence was also smothering, as they managed to get to the quarterback six times in the victory.

It won’t be easy for the Esks (7-7) down the stretch. They meet up with league-best Hamilton in Week 17 before wrapping the season with a back-to-back against the Riders.

PICK: Correct

Saskatchewan 41, Toronto 16

The sea of green invaded BMO Field on Saturday and their team got the job done on the road in convincing fashion.

Cody Fajardo tossed all over the Argos’ (2-11) defence for this second time this season, Kyran Moore had 69 yards and a touchdown while Emmanuel Arceneaux led the team in receiving with 72 yards and a major of his own.

Saskatchewan (9-4) moved into a share of first place alongside the Calgary Stampeders following Week 16. They’ll play their third and final game against Winnipeg on Saturday before clashing with Calgary in Week 18. That should create some intrigue atop the West Division standings down the stretch.

PICK: Correct

Montreal 23, BC 25

Make it three straight for the suddenly surging Leos.

It came right down to the wire against the Alouettes (7-6), but the Lions (4-10) came out on the right side of the win column. Mike Reilly had over 300 yards and a touchdown and Lemar Durant had 107 yards receiving.

BC will be after their fourth straight win this week when they take on the Argos at home. They need to play near-perfect football down the stretch to catch the Eskimos for the crossover playoff spot in the East.
