TSN CFL Fantasy presented by LeoVegas is easy for any fan to play, with just seven roster spots and a $40,000 salary cap.
However, success does require a healthy team, with all seven players in active CFL lineups. With such small rosters, a wasted position can be a devastating blow to your week’s score.
In addition, practice reports can be the source of hidden gems that produce big numbers despite low ownership percentage, providing an edge over the rest of the field.
With that, CFL.ca breaks down some of the critical roster notes for each game.

Calgary at Ottawa
Thursday | 7:00 p.m. ET
Bo Levi Mitchell, QB, CGY
Injured starter Bo Levi Mitchell ($9,418) was in Los Angeles this week to meet with doctor Neal ElAttrache for his injured pectoral muscle. While there’s still no timeline, Head Coach Dave Dickenson said he hopes his QB will be back in practice soon.
Romar Morris, RB, CGY
Eight months after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury, Romar Morris ($6,439) has resumed practising with the Stampeders, according to the Calgary Herald’s Danny Austin. Morris won’t play in Week 7 but a return may not be far off.
RJ Harris, WR, OTT
The Ottawa REDBLACKS have confirmed that receiver RJ Harris ($6,469) will miss a second straight week. Harris has been Ottawa’s go-to receiver so far in 2019.
Dominique Davis, QB, OTT
Ottawa head coach Rick Campbell says Dominique Davis ($6,272) needs another week before returning to action. That means Jonathon Jennings ($6,158) will start a second straight game for the REDBLACKS in a tough matchup with Calgary.
Jonathon Jennings, QB, OTT
After struggling in his first start as a REDBLACK, Jonathon Jennings ($6,158) will get a chance to redeem himself as he fills in again for injured pivot Dominique Davis ($6,272). It’s a tough matchup for Jennings against a Calgary defence forcing plenty of turnovers.
Mossis Madu, RB, OTT
Veteran running back Mossis Madu ($5,995) remains out of the lineup for the REDBLACKS. The backfield belongs to John Crockett ($4,500), who was the lone bright spot for Ottawa in a blowout loss to Winnipeg last week.
John Crockett, RB, OTT
First-year back John Crockett ($4,500) will try to replicate his success as the featured back against Calgary in Week 7. Crockett had 88 rushing yards on 15 carries last week and sports a 6.8-yard average on the season.
Toronto at Edmonton
Thursday | 9:30 p.m. ET
C.J. Gable, RB, EDM
The CFL’s second-leading rusher C.J. Gable ($8,696) will not play in Thursday’s home contest against the Toronto Argonauts. Gable will be replaced by sophomore running back Shaq Cooper ($4,500).
DaVaris Daniels, WR, EDM
After missing time in practice this week, DaVaris Daniels ($7,447) will miss the Eskimos’ Week 7 matchup vs. the Argos. Daniels has played two games in his first season with the Eskimos after moving over from Calgary.
Kenny Stafford, WR, EDM
With Daniels out, Kenny Stafford ($5,786) will make the move from field side wideout to the boundary side. That could mean more opportunities for Stafford at a position that quarterback Trevor Harris targets frequently.
Shaq Cooper, RB, EDM
Second-year running back Shaq Cooper ($4,500) has been added to the roster and will start vs. the Argos on Thursday. Cooper’s speed makes him an intriguing value pick in a matchup that should see him get plenty of touches.
Natey Adjei, WR, EDM
The injury to Daniels opens up a spot in the Eskimos’ receiving corps, which will be filled by Canadian Natey Adjei ($3,745). Adjei was mostly splitting time with fellow national Tevaun Smith ($2,500), but could see more targets this week vs. his former team.
James Wilder Jr., RB, TOR
Argos running back James Wilder Jr. ($9,117) will miss Thursday’s contest vs. the Eskimos. Branden Burks ($2,981) will be his replacement and could offer significant upside as a low-cost option.
Armanti Edwards, WR, TOR
Armanti Edwards ($7,506) will be sidelined this week against the Eskimos. Edwards has been targeted 29 times in five games for the Argos as one of McLeod Bethel-Thompson’s top targets.
Branden Burks, RB, TOR
Sophomore running back Branden Burks ($2,981) is expected to get the nod in place of James Wilder when the Argos take on the Eskimos Thursday night. Burks brings a little more speed to the backfield, though he draws a difficult assignment against the Esks’ defence.
Chandler Worthy, WR, TOR
The Argos will fill Armanti Edwards’ spot with Chandler Worthy ($2,500). Worthy would a risky play in Fantasy, but does have big-play upside.
Winnipeg at Hamilton
Friday | 7:00 p.m. ET
Nic Demski, WR, WPG
Nic Demski ($5,889) has practised this week and is expected to play Friday night vs. Hamilton. Demski left the Bombers’ win over the REDBLACKS’ last week before he could make much of an impact, but is having a strong season overall.
Lucky Whitehead, WR, WPG
The Bombers expect Lucky Whitehead ($3,945) to be in the lineup when they take on the Ticats this week. Whitehead has big play potential and has been a frequent target in Paul LaPolice’s offence.
Chris Matthews, WR, WPG
The Bombers’ offence is expected to remain the same last last week, meaning Chris Matthews ($3,609) would not suit up vs. Hamilton. Matthews has played just two games in his return to Winnipeg.
Charles Nelson, WR, WPG
With the Bombers adding a new kick returner this week, it would appear that Charles Nelson ($2,500) could be sidelined a while.
Maleek Irons, RB, HAM
The Ticats continue to lean on Maleek Irons ($4,000) as their RB1, giving him the majority of running back reps in practice. The price is right, but a tough matchup against Winnipeg will keep Fantasy players away.
Saskatchewan at BC
Saturday | 7:00 p.m. ET
John White, RB, BC
Despite being listed as the Lions’ starter last week, John White ($7,832) was seldom used vs. the Riders. Both White and Brandon Rutley have upside, but BC’s backfield is too unpredictable to trust at this point in the season.
Brandon Rutley, RB, BC
Despite being listed as the backup last week, Brandon Rutley ($4,998) received most of the work in a loss to the Riders. Rutley has always had intriguing upside, and perhaps the addition of Ryan Lankford ($4,341) to return kicks means Rutley’s role on offence will continue to grow.
Ryan Lankford, WR, BC
Ryan Lankford ($4,341) made his Lions debut last weekend and should continue to return kicks. The only way he’ll really justify his Fantasy salary, however, is if he finds himself at receiver. Keep an eye on the Lions’ depth chart in Week 7.
