HAMILTON — The Calgary Stampeders didn’t want to stay too low after their Week 13 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos.
“In my eyes, it was a tough loss for the team,” defensive back Emanuel Davis said on the league’s weekly media conference call ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the Tiger-Cats.
“We have a lot of veteran guys in the locker room that were ready for the next week and ready to play and ready to get that taste out of our mouths. Once we went to practice and we watched the film, corrected the mistakes, we got back to work and looked at Hamilton as another opportunity to get better.”

The Stampeders visit Tim Hortons Field on Saturday afternoon to take on the red-hot Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Hamilton has won three in a row and boast the league’s best pass defence.
Hamilton’s secondary has allowed the fewest completions (193), the fewest pass attempts (323), the fewest average passing yards per game (211.5 yards) and the fewest total passing yards (2,326).
“They do a good job of playing deep and playing with the odds and rallying to what they see,” said DaVaris Daniels, who joined Davis, Larry Dean and Mike Filer on the call. “They’ve got some good guys in the secondary there that can make a lot of plays and we’re just going to try and exploit it any way we can. We know it’s going to be tough going up there and going against those guys. We’ve got to be ready for it and it should be a good battle.”
Calgary will be without star receiver Kamar Jorden again this week after the pass-catcher suffered a season-ending knee injury two weeks ago. Even without Jorden, the Stampeders still have depth at receiver to fill in.
Last week it was Reggie Begelton who stepped up, catching seven passes for 153 yards. Daniels has been a major part of the Stampeders offence as well, as he scored five touchdowns in his last four games and surpassed the 100-yard mark in the team’s last two games against the Eskimos.
For the Tiger-Cats, this weekend’s game against the Stampeders will be a true test to see what they’re made of.
“We’re not taking this any differently than any other team,” said Filer. “It’s the next week up. It’s a new game for us. It’s a game for us to get better and continue. Obviously playing a good team like Calgary, we’ve got a lot to prove so we’re looking forward to the matchup on Saturday.”
Kickoff between the Stamps and Ticats is at 4 p.m. ET.
