MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes and veteran defensive end Gabriel Knapton have been reunited, the team announced Monday morning.
Knapton was released last week by the BC Lions in his first season on the west coast, recording 15 tackles and a sack during his time with the Leos.
The return to Montreal is a homecoming for the 29-year-old, who spent four seasons with the Als before being traded in the off-season in exchange for Chris Williams.

Knapton recorded nine or more sacks in each of his first three seasons in the league, but struggled to match the same production in 2017, recording just three sacks in 17 games.
The Als could use Knapton’s pass-rushing ability, as they rank near the bottom of the league with just 17 sacks through 10 games.
Coming off a season-saving 25-22 win over the Argos, the Alouettes are back in action on Friday night when they pay a visit to the nation’s capital to take on the East-leading Ottawa REDBLACKS.
