Well, you knew it was just a matter of time.
The Carleton Ravens-uOttawa Gee-Gees rivalry has been thriving across a number of sports in the nation’s capital, but nowhere more fiercely than the gridiron.
Thus, it was no surprise to see the rivalry spill over onto the @CFL instagram page when Nate Behar — one of four players participating in our brand-new #UniversityBlitz challenge, and a Carleton alum to boot — picked against the Gee-Gees in Week 1.
The clapback from the Gee-Gees is funny, but there is little doubt Behar and Carleton have bragging rights in recent years: Steve Sumarah’s Ravens have won the Panda Game four years running, while neither team has had sustained playoff success.
It’s hardly an upset pick: Laurier is at home and coming off a 6-2 season and Yates Cup appearance, while Ottawa is on the road and didn’t win a playoff game last season.
Regardless, it’s going to be fun to see how CFL players interact with each other as the university season gets going — especially around weeks with rivalry games like Carleton-uOttawa, Laval-Montreal, etc.
