CFL Game Time: Toronto Edition!
This week the CFL Game Time crew stayed local (for us!) and got to hang in Toronto this week! For those that don’t know the CFL office is in Toronto so for our team this meant a week at home and time at the office with the rest of our CFL team we have missed seeing these last 7 weeks.
On Wednesday we got to BMO Field to chat with Chris Van Zeyl and Marcus Ball about the REDBLACKS and also taped a few pieces for future episodes of the show. We filmed a truly horrific Roommate Horror Story (coming out in future weeks) with Marcus Ball that nearly had me gagging – tip, do not eat ice cream if you are lactose intolerant…okay? I was also super excited to catch up with Marcus because his dad and brother were the trainers from The Grind episode in Atlanta! Marcus happened to be away that week so we only filmed with Odell – but his dad is a drill sergeant! You have to watch the episode to watch him in his zone. His brother is the guy running the bootcamp at the end. Such an awesome family!
We setup CFL Game Time in the Shipyard just outside of BMO Field where the Argos host their pre-game rally – packed with games, BBQ, music and some beers. Some. Not for us though! Chezy and I were hard at work bringing you our 8th CFL Game Time this season and we were so excited to meet up with our bud Max!
For those of you that don’t know Max left the CFL in the off-season (yes, we all cried) for an exciting new work opportunity. Max is an Argos fan and was obviously out for some Thursday Night Football in the city so he joined us for the show and broke down the matchups with Davis and I! He told me he was prepared to disrupt the whole show and get up to his old antics…but he was surprisingly measured and insightful…which was maybe more annoying.
We were also joined by Leanne Larsen from the Amazing Race Canada who, along with her teammate on the show Mar, was an Argos Cheerleader. I have always been fascinated by the Amazing Race (it’s probably the reality show I would sign up for if I had to pick) and Leanne gave Davis and I some cool insights about the show – you can watch the interview below!
And then…there was football. The REDBLACKS and Argos put on their own show on Thursday night in a NAIL BITER with the Argos making a huge comeback. The game was made even better (if that’s possible) by Kardinal Offishall rocking the T.O. at halftime with an absolutely phenomenal performance.
We are all FIRED UP to fly all the way west to Vancouver next week for Thursday Night Football! We can’t wait to see you all at BC Place!
