Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Who’s going to feast in the East?

Canadian Press

HAMILTON — The top two teams in the East battle it out on the gridiron in this week’s Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup.

The Ottawa REDBLACKS have a two-point cushion on the Tiger-Cats for first place in the East Division as they head to Hamilton for this inter-division contest.

Hamilton is coming off a loss at home to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and will be looking for a bounce-back performance.

Quarterback Johnny Manziel was traded to the Montreal Alouettes this weekend, meaning the team has full confidence in Jeremiah Masoli to lead the charge for the rest of the season. In return for Manziel, the Ticats received dynamic playmaker Chris Williams and a force on the defensive line, Jamaal Westerman. Williams and Westerman will be looking to make an immediate impact as the team eyes moving to .500 on the season.

Masoli is second in the CFL in passing yards, just behind Edmonton’s Mike Reilly. Two of Hamilton’s receivers, Brandon Banks and Jalen Saunders, are in the top five in receiving yards. Ottawa’s secondary will have their hands full to contain the Tiger-Cats’ aerial attack.

The REDBLACKS, meanwhile, defeated the BC Lions in Week 6, thanks to a dominant performance from receiver Brad Sinopoli. The Canadian pass-catcher hauled in 11 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown, his second 100-yard performance of the season.

Trevor Harris was named a CFL Shaw Top Performer after his performance in Week 6 and will be looking to build on that as his team heads out on the road.

Will Ottawa create more separation between them and Hamilton or will the Tiger-Cats make things interesting at the top of the East Division? Find out on Saturday afternoon.
