#TotalPickEm Week 4 Recap

Trevor Hagan/CFL.ca

To say Week 4 didn’t go as planned would be a bit of an understatement.

Saskatchewan did just enough to hold off the Ticats on Thursday night; our Montreal upset pick never came to fruition, as the Alouette offence once again stalled under the weight of O-line issues and an inexperienced quarterback; the Argos did the unthinkable and shut down Mike Reilly and the Eskimos.

Long story short, it was a difficult week for a lot of #TotalPickEm players.

Saskatchewan 18, Hamilton 13

The Riders managed just 298 total yards of offence, but it was enough to earn the W against the visiting Ticats, who were made to rue serious missed opportunities.

Yep, that was a pretty tough one for #TotalPickEm players.

Ottawa 28, Montreal 18

We gave you Montreal as an upset pick, and all things considered it could have happened if the Als didn’t bleed 16 points in the second quarter and if they had an O-line capable of protecting their quarterback and enabling their run game.

Big ifs, and they obviously didn’t pan out.

Sincere apologies to anybody who took the Als in an effort to find value where there ultimately was none.

Toronto 20, Edmonton 17

The obvious pick here was the Eskimos — Mike Reilly over James Franklin, a 2-1 western team over an 0-2 eastern team — and obviously, that obvious pick got burned.

James Wilder Jr. showed up in a big way, and the Argos D stifled Reilly and company.

Yeah, ouch.

Winnipeg 41, BC 19

The only western game that went according to plan, Andrew Harris and the Bombers — bolstered by the return of Matt Nichols — unloaded on the Lions to the tune of a 22-point win.

Nearly a quarter of #TotalPickEm players believed BC had enough about them to manufacture an upset: They were wrong.

Until the Lions sort out their quarterback issue, it’s difficult to put much confidence in them in #TotalPickEm.

Check back on Tuesday for our Week 5 preview.
