Happy Thursday and first night of football for the week! It’s such an awesome matchup tonight, Ottawa and Calgary have a bit of a rivalry (hey 2016 Grey Cup) and play CLOSE games. One fun or not so fun fact depending on who you cheer for is that the REDBLACKS have never won at McMahon stadium, if they do tonight they would be seriously asserting themselves.
All to say our team was extra fired up to get to Cowtown this week to chat with some of our favourite playmakers in the CFL. On Wednesday we spoke with Alex Singleton and Trevor Harris as well as Bo Levi Mitchell, you can check out his interview on CFL Game Time tonight at 8pm ET on the CFL Facebook. He spoke about his time away from social media this off-season and he had some genuinely insightful things to say. In the photo below we are filming a 20 Questions segment which will air in a future week – get ready for that!
Though the weather is looking a little stormy in Calgary for the next few days our team was THRILLED to get some beautiful sunshine yesterday and we soaked it all in while we filmed our interviews throughout the day. It was National Sunglasses Day – FYI.
We ate lunch at Spolumbos, a famous deli in Calgary with CFL ties. Tom Spoletini, Mike Palumbo and Tony Spoletini all Calgary Stampeders opened the deli and to say it has been a success is an understatement. You can learn more here and I highly recommend you pop by next time you’re in town.
Last week when we were in Ottawa we had BBQ at Fatboys and last night in Calgary we couldn’t miss out on another amazing joint. We went to my personal favourite BBQ spot in the country called Hayden Block – I once again forgot to snap pictures, I was way too hungry/excited. I had the brisket and pulled pork and our team split some sides – phenomenal. So Phenomenal the crew opted for a 45 minute walk home to walk it off they were so full. I dutifully drove our car back to the hotel…I too could have used the walk though.
This morning I was up early to visit Global Calgary to talk football which was a good time. You don’t always know where the interview is headed when you do press and whether or not the person doing the interview is interested in the game. Today we talked a LOT of football which I really enjoyed.
Now it’s time to prep for the show and get ready to go! Can’t wait for CFL Game Time tonight at 8pm ET – Davis is back and is going to gush all about his brand new daughter and I legit can’t wait…we will also talk football, of course.
PS – Riderville, see you next week?
