REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another American running back to their stable, signing former Tennessee Titans back David Cobb.

The move was among a handful announced by the club Monday morning, as the team also signed international defensive back Aaron Ivory and released defensive back Daniel Davie, defensive lineman Johnny Maxey and sophomore receiver Antwane Grant.

Cobb joins fellow former NFL backs Tre Mason and Zac Stacy in what continues to be an intriguing position battle at international running back.

The Riders also have Canadian back and free agent signing Jerome Messam leading their backfield, along with suspended international running back Marcus Thigpen, who will miss the first two games of the season after testing positive for a banned substance.

Grant signed with the Riders last season and played five games, hauling in seven receptions for 107 yards.

After sitting out the second week of pre-season, the Riders conclude their exhibition schedule on Friday when they host the Calgary Stampeders. They’ll take on the Toronto Argonauts a week later in their season-opener at new Mosaic Stadium on June 15.
