If you needed another reason to love Fridays, you’ve come to the right place.
Three CFL pre-season games will be played on Friday night. That’s right. Three games. One night. All of the football.
Things first start in Hamilton where the reigning Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts visit the Tiger-Cats. The night marks the first time CFL fans get to see Johnny Manziel throwing a football in game action and is sure to be a good one between these two historic rivals. Kick off for that game is 7:30 p.m. ET.
Next, The Edmonton Eskimos finish off their pre-season schedule in Winnipeg as they take on the Blue Bombers. That contest is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. ET start.
And finally, the Calgary Stampeders play host to the BC Lions and that one starts at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Now I know what you’re thinking. How am I going to follow all three games?? Especially when at one point, they’re all going on at the same time. I’m here to help.
This will be the most important part of your night: Figuring out a set up to follow each game. Hamilton versus Toronto will be broadcast on TSN so this one should be easy. Flip your TV to TSN so you won’t miss a moment under the lights at the Donut Box.
The final two games won’t be on television, so you’re going to have to get creative. My suggestion is to have two windows open on your computer with each team’s Game Tracker on CFL.ca (Click here for EDM/WPG and here for CGY/BC). If you’re feeling it, have the radio broadcast of one of the games going as well.
TSN CFL Fantasy doesn’t start until Week 1, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be doing a scouting report during the pre-season.
Most teams play their second, third or even fourth-string guys in these contests so perhaps you see someone that you think will be good for your fantasy team down the road. Those players will usually be a pretty good bargain and if you’re looking to start heavyweights like Mike Reilly, Brandon Banks and James Wilder Jr., you’re going to need a couple sleepers to help balance out your lineup.
Connect with other CFL fans on social media throughout the night. Check in with everyone – including me! Tweet us @CFL or you can tweet me @kcostabile1 using the hashtag #CFLGameDay and let everyone know how you’re consuming all three games!
What? You didn’t think I’d do another one of these survival guides without a football cliche, did you?
