OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS made a series of transactions Tuesday morning including the signing of veteran kickers Richie Leone and former Tiger-Cat Sergio Castillo.
Castillo spent last season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and had been having a productive year until a late-season ACL tear shut him down for the final third of the season. He was released by Hamilton in the off-season.
Leone spent a pair of seasons in BC where he took over as the primary kicker and punter for the Lions. Last season he signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL but was waived just prior to the season.
The club also announced the signing of the following players:
– International defensive back Aarion Penton (Missouri)
– International defensive back Brandon Stewart (Kansas)
– International defensive back Damian Swann (Georgia)
– International defensive lineman George Uko (USC)
– International defensive lineman Shalom Ogbonda (Florida Atlantic)
– International running back Cedric O’Neal (Valdosta State)
