EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos announced on Wednesday that international defensive back Brandyn Thompson sustained a ruptured left Achilles during Saturday night’s victory over the Calgary Stampeders. Thompson will miss the remainder of the 2017 season.
Thompson played in 11 game this season and collected 23 defensive tackles and a touchdown. The 28-year-old joined the Esks in 2016 and played in eight games and tallied 22 defensive tackles and one interception.
He started his CFL career playing in two seasons with the Ottawa REDBLACKS in 2014 and 2015 suiting up in 34 games and racking up 97 defensive tackles, seven interceptions and one forced fumble.
The Esks face the Saskatchewan Roughriders this week as they hope to move into second place in the West with a win and Blue Bombers loss.
