EDMONTON — Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly was confident following his team’s 29-20 victory over the visiting Calgary Stampeders on Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium.
Reilly, who completed 18 of 27 passes for 284 yards and a trio of touchdowns in the win, told TSN the win adds to Edmonton’s building late-season momentum.
“It’s awesome, it’s huge,” said Reilly following the Battle of Alberta win. “I talked all week about how we just want to keep building momentum into the postseason. It was a hard-fought victory — those guys are the best team in the league, and it was good to get back at them in our house.”

Reilly lauded his entire offence’s performance in the win.
“Everybody was making plays,” said the sixth-year veteran quarterback. “CJ (Gable) had a great game in pass pro(tection) and running the football, Calvin (McCarty) and those guys did a good job in protection just like the rest of the O-line.”
The Edmonton pivot admitted that with a receiving core as deep as his, it’s sometimes difficult to get everybody looks.
“It’s tough to spread the ball around a little bit sometimes,” admitted Reilly, who threw completions to six different teammates on Saturday. “But again, we just want to be peaking at the right time.”
Despite holding what was at one time a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Esks gunslinger says he knew the Stamps were capable of mounting a comeback attempt.
“It seems like every time we play them in this place, it comes down to the last play,” chuckled Reilly. “We expected the game not to be over until the final whistle, and that’s how it was tonight.”
Reilly and the Esks (11-6) will now hit the road to Regina in Week 20 for a pivotal contest against the Roughriders (10-7) — kick-off on Nov. 4 is slated for 7 p.m. ET at Mosaic Stadium.
