CALGARY — After a week of speculation, the Montreal Alouettes have slotted backup quarterback Drew Willy to get the start under centre on Friday night when they take on the first-place Calgary Stampeders Friday night at McMahon Stadium.
Willy was listed as the starter on the Alouettes depth chart which was released late Thursday afternoon with Darian Durant in the third spot as he nurses a hamstring injury. It is likely Durant will dress.
Willy has entered in relief of Durant who has been at the helm of a stalling offence the last number of weeks. The University of Buffalo product is 22 of 31 for 217 yards and no touchdowns in spot duty this season.
Willy will be up against the league’s most dominant club in the Stampeders who only have one loss and a tie as blemishes on their record.
