RotoExperts: Week 15 Fantasy Rankings

Jason Halstead/CFL.ca

Injuries at quarterback have not only made an impact at the position, they’ve also made the value of a handful of usually-reliable receivers less steady going into Week 15.

Mike Reilly’s ($13,402) return after Edmonton’s open week gives Fantasy owners a pivot who is a near-lock for at least 290 yards and a couple of passing majors. The Eskimos will seek to snap their five-game losing streak with a Saturday night clash against Winnipeg in what should be a shootout between Reilly and Matt Nichols ($13,038), who rank first and second in this week’s rankings at quarterback.

There is a chance Ottawa’s Trevor Harris ($10,650) returns for Friday’s game against Saskatchewan, which explains why he is among the Top 10 at pivot. If Harris gets the green light and comes back after missing the last two games with a shoulder injury, he would be the third-rated quarterback and would instantly elevate the value of his receiving corps, especially Greg Ellingson ($6,258), whose numbers have suffered greatly without Harris. Darian Durant ($7,602) continues to struggle and it’s unlikely he will shake out of his doldrums against the suffocating defence of Calgary, hampering the value of receivers Ernest Jackson ($4,399) and B.J. Cunningham ($4,245).

The emergence of James Wilder ($4,424) and the surprising debut of Alex Green ($3,500) have given the running back position a jolt it lacked three weeks ago. Wilder is third in this week’s rankings, while Green sits in the sixth spot. However, the potential value pick is Winnipeg’s Timothy Flanders ($4,052), whose move to slot makes him a great play against Edmonton’s defence. Flanders should see more touches as receiver Weston Dressler will miss the next several games with an upper-body injury.

Edmonton’s Brandon Zylstra tops the pack at receiver. Zylstra ($6,518) has three straight games of double-digit Fantasy production and will cross the 1,000-yard barrier for the first time. He will square off against Winnipeg’s Darvin Adams ($7,423), who is ranked second in the rankings after he pulled in 195 yards and a major in last week’s win over Ottawa. Like Zylstra, Adams is close to his first career 1,000-yard season.

Naaman Roosevelt ($6,995) is expected to start for the Roughriders against the REDBLACKS after he suffered a brutal hit in the loss against the Stampeders. Also expected to return is Calgary’s DaVaris Daniels ($6,194), who has missed the last two games.

Defensively, the Stamps ($5,582) remain the unit to grab. They will be sought-after this week as they face the Alouetttes. Toronto ($3,717) is a good play in their matchup against a Hamilton team that is last in the league in scoring.
