Bridge to start under centre for Riders

HAMILTON — Brandon Bridge will be the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ starting quarterback in Week 13, the team has announced.

The Riders take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday night at Tim Hortons Field.

Glenn was listed as the starter on the team’s depth chart released on Thursday, but with four quarterbacks in the lineup, one would be scratched before kickoff. It is now apparent that Glenn will not start as he continues to deal with a bruised throwing hand.

Bridge, 25, signed with the Riders in 2016 after being released by the Alouettes. He won the backup job to Glenn in training camp in his first full season as a Roughrider.

The Toronto native came in for Glenn in the second half of last week’s loss to Winnipeg in the Banjo Bowl. Already playing from behind, Bridge couldn’t salvage the comeback, throwing for 67 yards on 4-of-8 passing with an interception. He did manage to add a 10-yard touchdown run, on which he hurdled a defender on his way to the end zone.

The Riders, 5-5 and in last place in the West, look to get back in the win column after losing their three-game winning streak vs. the Bombers.
