RotoExperts: Week 12 Fantasy Rankings

Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

The Week 12 Fantasy rankings are highlighted by the change atop the pivot position, while the Top 10 spots at receiver has a host of players playing in a version of musical chairs in a bid to rank behind potential Fantasy Most Outstanding Player Greg Ellingson.

Ottawa’s Trevor Harris ($11,277) tops the list at quarterback and goes into Saturday’s contest against Hamilton with the momentum of three straight 300-yard games and a stretch in which he has thrown at least two majors in six of his last seven contests. Harris leads the league with 3,531 yards and 22 scoring strikes while being two games removed from a 394-yard, two-major outing against the Tiger-Cats. BC, which returns from its open week with a date against visiting Montreal, will go with Travis Lulay ($11,426) in control of an offence that has struggled with Jonathon Jennings ($7,645) at the controls.

Saskatchewan’s Kevin Glenn ($10,200), who has two games of over 20 Fantasy Points in his last three contests, is second at the position, while Bo Levi Mitchell of Calgary ($9,598) falls to sixth after failing to throw a touchdown pass for the second time in the last three games.

The status of Ottawa’s William Powell ($5,274) and Montreal’s Tyrell Sutton ($6,160) puts them in the back half of the running back rankings. Powell missed last week’s win over BC, but it’s hard to tell whether Powell will return to the lineup on merit or if the REDBLACKS commit to Mossis Madu ($6,766) for at least another week. Sutton missed last week’s loss to Winnipeg, but if his knee bruise is improved, don’t be surprised if he leaps over Brandon Rutley ($5,091) to gain the starting job.

The running back position offers consistency, with Calgary’s Jerome Messam ($8,602), Winnipeg’s Andrew Harris ($8,487) and BC’s Jeremiah Johnson ($7,058) ranked in order of both salary and overall rankings. Johnson’s return cushions the blow of losing Roughriders back Cameron Marshall ($6,418), who will miss Saturday’s Banjo Bowl against the Blue Bombers with an undisclosed injury. Kienan LaFrance ($2,500) gets the start in place of Marshall and is ranked tenth overall. Stampeders running back/return specialist Roy Finch ($5,603) earns his highest ranking of the season, placing fifth behind Messam, Harris, Johnson and Ottawa’s Mossis Madu ($6,762).

Ellingson ($7,607) remains the receiver of choice for most Fantasy owners, with red-hot Roughriders scoring threat Duron Carter ($6,541) right behind him. Brandon Zylstra’s fifth 100-yard game of the season in the Labour Day loss to Calgary puts him and his $5,214 salary in the third spot. The REDBLACKS have three of the Top 10 receivers with Diontae Spencer ($5,695) and Brad Sinopoli ($5,156) holding the 8-9 spots.

Defensively, the Stampeders ($5,764) continue to be a solid choice, but the BC defence ($3,200) could be a bargain as they take on a Montreal offence that has failed to score a major in two of their last three games.
