Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Home field matters for Esks, Riders

TORONTO — This week’s Marquee Matchup features two West Division teams, the Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders. One has yet to win on the road and one has yet to lose at home.

Edmonton was handed their first loss of the 2017 season in Week 9, as perhaps their injury woes were finally catching up to them. But their winning record at home – they’re 4-0 this season at Commonwealth Stadium – should be enough of a boost to help the Esks forget about the loss.

The Riders have yet to win on the road this season – away from Mosaic Stadium Chris Jones’ Riders are 0-3. But this week is as good of a week as ever to snap that streak. Saskatchewan has won two of their last three contests before heading into their bye last week.

Coming off a big win over the Lions, momentum is sure to be on their side heading into Edmonton.

The Esks also need to win to keep a hold on the top of the West – a loss last week to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers dropped Edmonton to 7-1 and just one point ahead of the Calgary Stampeders.

Saskatchewan, on the other hand, sit at the bottom of the division with a 3-4 record and are looking to gain ground on the BC Lions.

In this week’s CFL.ca Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup, we’ll see if the Esks continue their dominance at Commonwealth or if the Riders can spoil the home team’s party. Who are you taking?

The fans are mostly siding with the Esks this week, as 74 per cent are choosing the home team to win.

But what about the surging Roughriders? Kevin Glenn has been a steady arm for the green and white all season and Duron Carter and Naaman Roosevelt have been there to catch this throws. A potent offence could expose a hurting Eskimos defence. Can the Riders take advantage?
