CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Who is best in the West?

The Canadian Press

TORONTO — In this week’s Marquee Matchup, we’ll find out who really is the best in the West.

The Edmonton Eskimos have yet to lose a game in 2017, sitting with a 4-0 recrod after five weeks of play. On the other hand, the BC Lions (4-1) haven’t lost a game since Week 1 against the Eskimos.

One winning streak is about to be snapped and one team is about to sit alone on top of the West Division.

Mike Reilly has settled nicely into the 2017 season with a balanced offensive attack. Vidal Hazelton, Brandon Zylstra and Duke Williams have all been targets for the Esks pivot through the air while Travon Van has been looked upon on the ground in the absence of John White.

Edmonton’s sack leader, Odell Willis, will have a chance to add to his total (three) this week as the Lions have given up the most sacks in the league so far this season (13, tied with Ottawa).

Reilly and his offence will have their hands full with the Lions defence as well, as Solomon Elimimian leads the league in tackles with 40 and is dangerous every time he hits the field.

The Lions boast a stellar offensive attack as well, with Travis Lulay taking the reins for the third week in a row. Bryan Burnham and Nick Moore have emerged the favourite targets for the Lions’ pivot and Jeremiah Johnson leads the league in rushing touchdowns – he’s had a major score in every game so far this season – and is second in rushing yards.

It’s sure to be an offensive showdown that you don’t want to miss.

The fans are siding with the Eskimos this week, as they don’t think the Lions will be able to snap the Esks winning streak.

Don’t count out the Lions this week, though, as Lulay is slinging in the absence of Jonathon Jennings and the Lions have yet to lose on the road in 2017.
