CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Labour Day Edition

Adam Gagnon/CFL.ca

TORONTO — It’s the official start of the second half of the CFL’s 2016 season and that means it’s time to dive into Mark’s Labour Day Weekend.

This week’s CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup features a doubleheader as four teams eye victories against divisional rivals.

It all starts in Calgary where the Stampeders look to keep their winning streak alive taking on Mike Reilly and the Eskimos for the first time this season. Bo Levi Mitchell and his club haven’t lost a game since Week 1 and will look to distance themselves as the best team in the league.

Reilly certainly has the talent to stop the Stamps in their tracks with two of the top receivers in the CFL and Shakir Bell, who had a touchdown and racked up 170 yards from scrimmage last week, at his disposal.

The second game features the Toronto Argonauts taking on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Labour Day Classic at Tim Hortons Field. Zach Collaros is coming off an impressive 439 yard, three touchdown performance last week but has only one win under his belt since his return to action three weeks ago.

The Argos will be playing their second game of Week 11, with just four days of rest between their loss against BC before heading to Hamilton.

Edmonton Calgary

The fans are leaning towards Stampeder victory in the first half of Monday’s doubleheader – and how could they not? Calgary holds an impressive 4-0 record at home and hasn’t lost a game since Week 1.

The Eskimos, however, are riding with one of the league’s best offences led by the trio of Reilly, Bowman and Walker which could be the key to an upset at McMahon Stadium.

Tiger-Cats Argos

The fans are leaning heavily towards the Tiger-Cats defeating the Argonauts on Monday night. It’s not really a surprise as the Ticats hold a 31-13-1 record in the 46 times these teams have met in the Labour Day Classic.

Zach Collaros is 2-0 in the annual game, and seeing as he is playing at a high level since his return three week ago, the Argonauts will have their work cut out for them.
