Just three quarterbacks produced clean sheets in Week 17 (no interceptions) and those fine triggermen sit atop our QB Scorecard.
1) Henry Burris, REDBLACKS
Week 17 stats: 34-43, 370 yards, 1 TD
Despite heavy rain in the nation’s capital Burris threw the rock with precision. It seems as if nothing can slow down Ottawa’s 40-year-old, ageless pivot.
2) Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders
Week 17 stats: 21-28, 266 yards, 2 TD
Ho-hum Mitchell continues to roll along. Calgary’s franchise pivot has thrown for 230 or more yards in 15 of 16 games this season.
3) Jeff Mathews, Ticats
Week 17 stats: 21-25, 241 yards, 1 TD
Mathews looks increasingly comfortable in Hamilton’s offence each time out. He was very poised and accurate against a tough Montreal defence, and the snow and cold didn’t seem to affect him at all.
4) Mike Reilly, Eskimos
Week 17 stats: 24-40, 332 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT; 9 carries, 57 yards
A 69-yard dime to Adarius Bowman got the Eskimos’ offence going. If Reilly cuts out the interceptions – nine in his last five games – Edmonton could really start piling up the points.
5) Jonathon Jennings, Lions
Week 17 stats: 22-35, 229 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
BC had a shot to win in overtime until Jennings threw behind Bryan Burnham and Dexter McCoil picked him off. That’s a throw No. 10 surely wants back, but Jennings has proven he can keep BC competitive with any team in the CFL.
6) Kevin Glenn, Alouettes
Week 17 stats: 26-44, 226 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT
A smooth first start in Montreal wasn’t expected because Glenn only had a few days to learn the offence. That said, the veteran pivot wasn’t helped out with receivers dropping lots of footballs. The Alouettes’ collective backs are against the walls so there isn’t time to spare for Glenn and company.
7) Trevor Harris, Argos
Week 17 stats: 26-44, 260 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT
Admittedly Harris played his worst half of football since high school. Expect a big bounce back performance from Harris in Week 18.
8) Matt Nichols, Bombers
Week 17 stats: 27-40, 241 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT
In a must-win game for Winnipeg Nichols could not manage to put a single point on the board in the first half. The Bombers’ offence has to do more if the team has realistic visions about winning its final two games and making the playoffs.
