A long-time CFL passer showed he’s still capable of playing at a high level; some newcomers displayed promise but made mistakes; and two more pivots went down with injuries in an up and down week for triggermen. It was an eventful venture for quarterbacks across the league in Week 13, so let’s get to the QB Scorecard and find out where they all ranked.
1) Henry Burris, REDBLACKS
Week 13 stats: 35-45, 477 yards, 2 TD
Hank went into Saskatchewan and put on an aerial show for the Rider faithful, who are not very fond of the 40-year-old signal caller. Burris set an Ottawa franchise record with 477 yards passing in a performance that should vault him into the MOP conversation.
2) Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders
Week 13 stats: 21-34, 268 yards, 2 TD
Mitchell got his backfield mate in Jon Cornish back and he put together a bounce back effort. Calgary’s No. 1 QB guided the Stampeders to a 5-1 mark with Cornish out and a victory in his return.
3) Kevin Glenn, Riders
Week 13 stats: 16-29, 227 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Glenn helped Saskatchewan take a lead into the fourth quarter, but the Riders couldn’t close the deal, yet again. With Glenn on the field the Green and White are a much better team.
4) Jonathan Crompton, Alouettes
Week 13 stats: 14-27, 181 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
It was a long time between starts in 2015 – Crompton suffered a shoulder injury all the way back in Week 1 – but he returned after missing nine games and made some strong throws for the Als. If Crompton can cut out the mistakes and build off the victory over Winnipeg, Montreal could be a threat down the stretch.
5) Jonathon Jennings, Lions
Week 13 stats: 15-27, 252 yards, 3 INT
Yes, Jennings – a CFL rookie – made some bad decisions, but he was able to get BC’s offence moving and displayed plenty of arm talent. Jeff Tedford might have found a gem.
6) Zach Collaros, Ticats
Week 13 stats: 7-10, 90 yards, 1 TD
Collaros had Hamilton well in control of the game against Edmonton until he went down with a knee injury, an unfortunate setback for a player who was on such a tear.
7) Mike Reilly, Eskimos
Week 13 stats: 7-22, 49 yards, 1 INT; 11 carries, 72 yards
As the old saying goes: They don’t ask how, just how many. Reilly, who had lots of help from Edmonton’s defence, managed to do just enough for the Eskimos to walk out of Tim Hortons Field with a victory.
8) Jeff Mathews, Ticats
Week 13 stats: 12-20, 157 yards, 3 INT
Hamilton’s first-year pivot managed to move the offence, but three interceptions – two returned for touchdowns – ultimately did the Ticats in.
9) Jacory Harris, Ticats
Week 13 stats: 6-12, 59 yards
Harris came into a tough spot and just couldn’t do enough to put any points on the board for Hamilton.
10) John Beck, Lions
Week 13 stats: 9-16, 82 yards
Beck was off to a decent start before he was knocked from the game with a pectoral injury.
11) Matt Nichols, Bombers
Week 13 stats: 23-48, 189 yards, 1 INT
It was a rocky second start with the Bombers for Nichols. For the most part he struggled through the first three quarters and by that time it was too late for Winnipeg.
