It was quite the week for quarterbacks around the league. A first-time starter shone, one got hurt, another was pulled, two surpassed the 300-yard mark and an ugly 30 QB rating was put up. Pivot performances were all over the map in Week 10. Let’s rank them all on the QB Scorecard.
1) James Franklin, Eskimos
Week 10 stats: 29-38, 335 yards, 1 TD; 4 carries, 51 yards, 1 TD
Edmonton unleashed Franklin and finally started the rookie quarterback, an opportunity he earned with five strong showings off the bench. The Eskimos’ rookie looked anything but a young man making his first CFL start against Toronto. He made plays with his arm and feet in a sparkling starting debut.
2) Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders
Week 10 stats: 19-26, 314 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Calgary’s gunslinger has produced 300-yard efforts in four of his last five games – safe to say he’s in fine form halfway through the campaign. And when you consider Jon Cornish didn’t finish or play in the last five outings, it makes Mitchell’s production that much more impressive.
3) Henry Burris, REDBLACKS
Week 10 stats: 19-33, 269 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Hank played even better then his Week 10 numbers would seem to indicate, that’s because handful of dropped passes took possible points off the scoreboard for Ottawa.
4) Zach Collaros, Ticats
Week 10 stats: 20-27, 293 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
It seemed as though Collaros wasn’t pulling the trigger with the decisiveness and quickness seen during Hamilton’s five-game winning run. Montreal’s defence has stymied the Ticats’ franchise quarterback in 2015.
5) Trevor Harris, Argos
Week 10 stats: 20-26, 200 yards, 1 INT
After three quarters Harris had Toronto within striking distance of a win on the road, but a poor final 15 minutes did the Argos in. Harris had three two-and-outs and an interception in the fourth quarter.
6) Tanner Marsh, Alouettes
Week 10 stats: 11-18, 99 yards, 1 TD, 7 carries, 18 yards, 1 TD
A workmanlike effort helped Montreal slow Hamilton’s roll. Marsh took over for an injured Rakeem Cato with the score 10-10 and the Als became the first team to leave Tim Hortons Field with a victory.
7) Tino Sunseri, Riders
Week 10 stats: 12-18, 165 yards; 2 carries, 33 yards
Tino time began midway through the second quarter and he could only manage to put three points on the board. A bigger commitment to a strong Riders run game could’ve aided Sunseri.
8) Rakeem Cato, Alouettes
Week 10 stats: 4-7, 115 yards, 1 TD
It was a shortened outing for Cato after he left the game with a hip pointer injury, suffered while being sacked by Eric Norwood. A long screen pass touchdown from Brandon Rutley helped Montreal get off to a quick start.
9) Brett Smith, Riders
Week 10 stats: 6-10, 68 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT; 4 carries, 25 yards
A poor throw into the end zone that was picked off led to Smith getting benched despite No. 16 having Saskatchewan right in the game at that point, only four points down. That could’ve served as a learning opportunity, but instead Smith watched from the sidelines for the rest of the game.
10) Robert Marve, Bombers
Week 10 stats: 12-20, 94 yards, 2 INT; 3 carries, 28 yards
There might not be many better words then disappointing to describe Marve and the Bombers’ poor showing. Coming off a pretty solid first start and a bye week, I expected more from Winnipeg’s dual-threat QB.
