QB Scorecard and Starters: Collaros or Mitchell on top?

There were quarterback performances that ranked all over the board in Week 8. We saw some excellent outings, some mediocre play and some subpar efforts. Let’s jump into the QB Scorecard and see where each signal caller ranked.

1) Zach Collaros, Ticats
Week 8 stats: 19-23, 290 yards, 4 TD

Hamilton’s franchise man put together his most efficient game of the year. He completed a season-high 82.6 per cent of his passes and put up a 181.4 quarterback rating.

2) Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders
Week 8 stats: 17-25, 243 yards, 2 TD; 3 carries for 22 yards, 2 TD

It appears that Mitchell has hit his stride in 2015 after his third straight strong outing. Mitchell flashed the sneaky athleticism that he possesses on his 11-yard touchdown run.

3) Robert Marve, Bombers
Week 8 stats: 18-29, 203 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT; 7 carries for 55 yards

Marve seemed very poised in his first CFL start. He just oozes play-making ability. Marve played well enough to give Winnipeg a chance to win.

4) Trevor Harris, Argos
Week 8 stats: 18-24, 168 yards, 2 TD

For the first time in eight CFL starts Harris failed to eclipse the 200-yard passing mark. He did add two more touchdowns to his league-leading total (16) and most importantly he did not turn the football over.

5) James Franklin, Eskimos
Week 8 stats: 9-13, 144 yards

The Eskimos rookie pivot came into the game and got the Edmonton offence moving immediately in Montreal. And he helped get the team in range for the game-winning field goal. It’s clear Franklin deserves a chance to start a game before Mike Reilly returns.

6) Rakeem Cato, Alouettes
Week 8 stats: 14-22, 178 yards, 1 INT

Yes, Cato was under siege for the entire 60 minutes against Edmonton, but his decision-making process appears to be slowing down. All eight sacks should not be totally blamed on the offensive line because Cato needs to get rid of the ball quicker or throw it away.

7) Travis Lulay, Lions
Week 8 stats: 13-20, 139 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT

BC’s slow start combined with Hamilton jumping out to a 31-1 lead midway through the second quarter put Lulay in a tough spot.

8) Matt Nichols, Eskimos
Week 8 stats: 15-24, 130 yards, 2 INT

Apparently Nichols was removed from the game due to injury, but something makes me think his play to that point factored into that decision as well.

9) Henry Burris, REDBLACKS
Week 8 stats: 7-17, 114 yards

Bad Hank came out in Cowtown and that’s all that needs to be said.
