TORONTO – Linebacker Byron Archambault has been selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the second round with the 17th overall pick. The Tiger-Cats traded their first round pick (8) to the Alouettes earlier in the eveing.
His nine quarterback sacks last season were good enough for second-most in the CIS. In addition, Archambault also forced a fumble while recording 49.5 tackles.
His talents were on full display at the CFL Combine, posting the best scores in the bench press and shuttle events outright along with being the fastest linebacker in the 3-cone drill.
Archambault was named a RSEQ all-star and RSEQ Defensive Player of the Year along with being named to the CIS first-team all-Canadian roster. He was a member of Team East in the East-West Bowl but did not participate due to injury.
