TORONTO – The CFL Scouting Bureau’s number one prospect is off the board, as the BC Lions have selected the highly-touted defensive lineman with the 43rd overall pick in the fifth round.
The defensive lineman out of Rice recorded 20 total tackles last season including three sacks and a fumble recovery, and is currently property of the NFL’s Houston Texans after being drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
The Vancouver, B.C. native started six of his seven games last year but missed the final four contests because of a knee injury.
Covington’s father Grover, a defensive end, played in the CFL from 1981-1991 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
