Banks runs away with CFL's STPOTW award

Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver/kick returner Brandon Banks has been named the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Week after recording 146 combined yards and two touchdowns against the Ottawa REDBLACKS last Friday.

In the second quarter of the Tiger-Cats 34-25 win, Banks returned a kickoff 103 yards for his second kick return touchdown of the season. He also ran back four punts for 15 yards and scored on a 13-yard reception.

Banks enters the final week of the season as the CFL’s leader in combined yards with 1,797.  In 13 games, the Kansas State product has caught 37 passes for 464 yards, carried the ball 14 times for 97 yards, returned 29 kickoffs for 680 yards, returned 54 punts for 533 yards, returned two missed field goals for 23 yards and has scored a team-leading six touchdowns.

This is the second time Banks has been named Special Teams Player of the Week and the fifth time a Tiger-Cat has earned the honour.
