The Tiger-Cats return to McMaster’s Ron Joyce Stadium to host the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday afternoon (3 p.m. / AM900 CHML / TSN). In week four, a mishap on a late field goal attempt in the final minutes proved to be the difference as the Ticats fell 10-7 to the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium.
Calgary lands in Hamilton after handily routing the Ottawa REDBLACKS 38-17 in week seven and looks to extend their road win streak to 3-0.

JUSTIN MEDLOCK |
RENE PARADES CALAGRY STAMPEDERS KICKER |
|
Kicker/Punter Justin Medlock has been nothing short of consistent on special team since returning to the Ticats in 2014. Medlock, who set the club record with field goal percentage of 89.1% in 2011, converted on 5-of-5 field goal attempts last week to extend his streak o 10. Just over a third of the way into the 2014 season, Medlock leads the East Division with a conversion rate of 92.9 percent (13/14). Prior to missing a 46-yard attempt in week four vs. Calgary, Medlock had hit 17 straight field goals dating back to his previous stint with the Ticats in 2011. |
After being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and setting the league record for consecutive field goals made (39) in 2013, Canadian kicker Rene Parades has had an unusual start to the season. Six games into the Stampeders 2014 campaign, Parades has hit 13-of-17 field goals, ranking seventh in the league with a field goal percentage of 81.3. In 36 games over the last two seasons, Parades only missed six of his 100 field goals attempts. This season, he has already missed three, all of which came in back-to-back weeks. |
LeFEVOUR’S THREE STARTS:
Ticats quarterback Dan LeFevour has put up quite the numbers in his first three career starts:
PLAYERS TO WATCH
DE Kiante Tripp: In week 8, the Tiger-Cats defensive line will feature a new face in Kiante Tripp. Tripp, signed by the Tiger-Cats on July 28, spent the 2013 season with the Toronto Argonauts. The lengthy 6-5, 277-pound Georgia product recorded 10 defensive tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown with the Argonauts last season.
DE Antonio Coleman: Defensive end Antonio Coleman will get his third consecutive start on Saturday afternoon vs. the Calgary Stampeders. Last week in B.C., Coleman led the Ticats defence with six defensive stops and a quarterback sack.
RB Mossis Madu: With CJ Gable on the injured list, rookie running back Mossis Madu will get the call to start in the Ticats backfield. Madu had shown spurts of his burst on special teams and as a change of pace back this season will finally get a full workload in week 8.
GAME NOTES
- Ticats offensive lineman Tim O’Neill will get his 75th career start on Saturday against his former team.
- The Tiger-Cats defence ranks second in the CFL with an average of 4.8 yards allowed per carry.
- The Ticats are riding a streak of two games in a row with a punt return TD (and by two different players, Brandon Banks and Quincy McDuffie). The last team to do that was Hamilton themselves in 2012 when they ran off three games straight (Chris Williams). Prior to that, Toronto in 1998 and again in 2004 made it to three straight.
- Quarterback Dan LeFevour isn’t the first Ticats QB to post multiple 100-yard rushing games in one season. Check Ealey recorded three 100-yard games in 1973, his second year in the CFL.
- Second-year Ticat Simoni Lawrence currently leads the team and is tied for third in the CFL with 31 defensive tackles. Lawrence is currently on pace to set a new club record for defensive tackles in a season with 124.
