Ticats add four

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed import linebacker Kendrick Causey, import defensive backs Damien Jackson and Michael Ricks, and import defensive lineman Brandon Thurmond, the team announced today.

Causey, a 6-0, 230-pound native of Amite County, Mississippi, played two seasons at Lincoln University where he compiled 186 defensive tackles, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups. In 2013, he finished the season ranked third in the MIAA with 116 tackles.

Jackson, a 6-2, 215-pound, native of Pineville, Louisiana, played two seasons at Ole Miss after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast. In 23 games with the Rebels, he registered 132 defensive tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.

Ricks, a 6-2, 203-pound, native of Courtland, Alabama, previously spent time with the Edmonton Eskimos and NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. In two seasons at Stillman College, he recorded 108 defensive tackles and seven interceptions, six of which were returned for touchdowns.

Thurmond, a 6-2, 260-pound, native of Augusta, Georgia, rejoins the Ticats after spending a month on the team’s practice roster last season following a training camp appearance with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. The 2012 SWAC Defensive Player of the Year registered 63 tackles, 16.5 quarterback sacks and 25 tackles for a loss in his senior season at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Tiger-Cats also announced the team has released the following players:
