The Tiger-Cats have upgraded their Canadian content today with the addition of free agent defensive back/linebacker Craig Butler.

Butler, a 6-2, 196-pound native of London, Ontario, joins the Ticats following three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who selected him in the second round (12th overall) of the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft.

In 53 regular season games, Butler has registered 135 defensive tackles, 11 interceptions, four quarterback sacks and six fumble recoveries.  The 25-year-old has also totaled 34 special teams tackles.  He was named a West Division All-Star and Saskatchewan’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 2011.

Last season, Butler led the Roughriders with 60 defensive tackles while adding four interceptions en route to Saskatchewan’s Grey Cup championship.
