The Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed four Canadian players.
The latest additions to the Ticats roster include receiversMatt Coates and Jay Diston, as well as linebacker Pawel Kruba and defensive back Kyle Miller.
Coates, a 6-3, 185-pound native of Markham, Ontario, spent time with the Ticats last season as a territorial exemption player. He was named the OFC’s Offensive Player of the Year after catching 36 passes for 630 yards and a conference record 13 touchdowns with the Hamilton Hurricanes in 2013.
Diston, a 6-3, 195-pound native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, suited up in two games with the Ticats last season after stints on the team’s practice roster in 2011 and 2012.
Kruba, a 5-11, 210-pound native of Windsor, Ontario, earned the Presidents’ Trophy as the CIS Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 after making 38 tackles and three interceptions at Western. He was also named a first-team OUA all-star and first-team All-Canadian last season.
Miller, a 5-11, 190-pound native of Surrey, British Columbia, spent time with the B.C. Lions in 2013 after four seasons at Simon Fraser. He finished his senior season ranked second in the GNAC with 73 defensive tackles.
