Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence has been recognized as the Canadian Football League’s Defensive Player of the Week after his outstanding performance in last Sunday’s overtime victory in the Eastern Semi-Final.
Lawrence led the Ticats with seven tackles against the Alouettes and was an integral part of a defensive effort that surrendered just 15 first downs and 142 passing yards to Montreal.
In 12 regular season games during his first season with the Ticats, Lawrence recorded 52 defensive tackles, three forced fumbles, three interceptions, six pass knock downs and one quarterback sack.
