The Tiger-Cats annual Play Action Dinner and Awards presented by Tim Hortons are two weeks away and a limited amount of tickets are still available.
This year’s event takes place at the Hamilton Place Theatre on Tuesday, September 24 beginning at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds raised will support amateur football through the Play Action program, a comprehensive initiative to lead the growth of minor football throughout the TigerTown region.
Each association linked to the Play Action program (Hamilton Minor Football Association, Hamilton-Wentworth Minor Football Association, Burlington Minor Football Association, Niagara Regional Minor Football Association and Guelph Minor Football Association) was asked to nominate a deserving individual for the following awards:
THE MICHAEL V. YOUNG “WHAT YA GOTTA DO” AWARD presented by the Young Family
Awarded to someone within the regional football community who has inspired others by the example they have set, in honour of Bob Young’s late brother Michael.
THE BOB KROUSE VOLUNTEER AWARD presented by Tim Hortons
Awarded to an association volunteer who has selflessly devoted their personal time to support the initiatives of an amateur football association.
THE LESS BROWNE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT presented by Pioneer
Awarded to a player who consistently displays effectiveness, intensity and passion on the playing field.
THE DANNY McMANUS LEADERSHIP AWARD presented by Findlay Law
Awarded to the player who exemplifies leadership/mentorship on and off the field.
THE ROCKY DiPETRO BUILDER AWARD presented by Nissan
Awarded to a coach, executive or board member with Play Action member association for a lengthy and distinguished career in support of the game of football.
The winners of each award will be unveiled over the course of the evening.
The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a reception featuring a tailgate-style meal and unique access to all of your favourite Ticats players. The awards presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Tiger-Cats Head Coach and General Manager Kent Austin will serve as the keynote speaker.
