By The Numbers: Winning In Winnipeg

Ticats.ca Staff

The Tiger-Cats delivered their strongest performance of the season in Winnipeg on Friday, securing their second straight win with a 37-18 beatdown of the Blue Bombers.  Here’s a look at Friday’s win by the numbers:

1 – CFL game played by Canadian defensive back Harold Mutobola, who made his CFL debut in Winnipeg.  Mutobola made one special teams tackle in his first career appearance.

1 & 1 & 1 – The stats line beside Rico Murray’s name was full following Friday’s game after the first-year linebacker recorded one sack, one interception and a fumble forced on top of his four defensive tackles.

2 – Interceptions made by the Tiger-Cats defence, one each by Raymond Brown and Rico Murray.

2 – Touchdowns engineered by quarterback Dan LeFevour, who posted his first career passing touchdown and rushing touchdown against Winnipeg.

3:18 – Amount of time in which the Tiger-Cats didn’t hold the lead.  Luca Congi opened the scoring with a 41-yard field goal at 11:42 of the first quarter and the Ticats never looked back.

3.9 – Yards per rushing attempt generated by the Bombers last night, the Ticats best effort against an opposing offence this season.

5 – Touchdowns scored by running back C.J. Gable this season, the highest total for any CFL rookie.

6 – Defensive tackles posted by linebacker Simoni Lawrence in his first start with the Black and Gold.

8 – Number of Tiger-Cats players who caught passes in the first quarter.

8 – Consecutive games in which Henry Burris has played against Winnipeg without throwing an interception.  His last interception against the Bombers came on August 8, 2009.

7.1 – The Tiger-Cats average rushing yards per carry.

9 – Yardage gained on Andy Fantuz’s first reception since week 1.  Fantuz returned to action in Winnipeg after missing five games with an injured hamstring.

11 – Tackles made by rookie defensive end Eric Norwood in two games against the Blue Bombers this season.

59 – Percent of passes completed by Bombers quarterbacks in two games against the Tiger-Cats this year.

73 – Number of career 300+ yard passing games for Henry Burris following his 333-yard performance in Winnipeg.

85 – Receiving yards accumulated by Sam Giguere, who has been the Ticats leading receiver for two straight weeks.

147 – C.J. Gable’s all-purpose yards on Friday night.  He set new personal highs in both receiving (72) and rushing (75).

2010 – The last time the Tiger-Cats won two straight away games before beating Edmonton and Winnipeg on the road in back-to-back contests this year.  The Ticats defeated Winnipeg on August 13, 2010 and Toronto on August 20, 2010.

5,492 – Henry Burris is on pace for 5,492 passing yards this season, which would eclipse his career-high of 5,367 set in 2012.  He’s averaging 305 passing yards per game.
