Pre-Game Breakdown: Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders

Ticats.ca Staff

The Ticats will look to avenge last week’s loss last week in Regina when they play host to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday at Alumni Stadium in Guelph.  Hamilton will host the Riders for the second leg of their back-to-back matchup aim to notch their second win of the 2013 season.

At 1–3, the Ticats enter week 5 just a game out of first place in the East Division, and a win this Saturday against the first-place Roughriders could catapult them back to the top of the East standings. The Riders sit undefeated with the league’s best record at 4-0.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

BAKARI GRANT
TIGER-CATS RECEIVER
  PRINCE MILLER
ROUGHRIDERS DEFENSIVE BACK

BGWith six catches for 80 yards last week in Regina, Bakari Grant became the first Tiger-Cats receiver to lead the team in receiving yards for two straight games this season. He now sits at 19 catches and 254 yards through four games, leading the Ticats and ranking seventh in the CFL in both categories.

Grant,  Henry Burris’ number one target so far this season, is now on pace for over 1,000 receiving yards this season, which would double his previous career high (507).

In the last two games, Grant has tallied a total of 181 yards through the air; more yards than all but one other Tiger-Cats receiver has so far this season.

This week, Grant and the Ticats offence will attempt to overcome the same challenge for the second consecutive week, knocking off the undefeated Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Miller Through the first four weeks of the season, defensive back Prince Miller has compiled 17 tackles for the Roughriders, tying him for the team.

Miller is a part of a Roughrider defence which has completely stopped the run, yet allowed a league-high 305 yards per game through the air.

The Riders secondary has limited their opponents scoring and passing attack, allowing only five passing touchdowns and recording a CFL-leading five interceptions.

Miller is slated to start Saturday’s game on the boundary, and the responsibility for guarding Grant will likely fall to him.

This is only Miller’s third start this season, but it is his second consecutive start at boundary halfback. Last week, the Riders rookie led the team in tackles with six stops on the night, marking the second time he has done so in his three starts.

BURRIS CONTINUES ASSAULT ON CFL RECORD BOOK
