Ticats Host Eskimos In Home Opener This Sunday

The Tiger-Cats host their home opener presented by Booster Juice at Alumni Stadium this Sunday, July 7 against the Edmonton Eskimos.  Kickoff takes place at 5 p.m.

At halftime, the Tiger-Cats will honour two members of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013, Miles Gorrell and Earl Winfield.  

Gorrell played 126 games in Black and Gold, spending eight of his 19 CFL seasons in Hamilton.  Over the course of his Ticats career, he was named the team’s Most Outstanding Lineman four times and the East’s top lineman in 1985 and 1988.  

Winfield is the leading receiver in Ticats history, having amassed 10,119 yards and 75 touchdowns on 573 receptions during his 11 seasons in Hamilton.  ‘The Pearl’ spent his entire CFL career in Black and Gold, collecting four East Division and two CFL All-Star nods as well as five nominations as the team’s Most Outstanding Player along the way.

DOWNTOWN KICKOFF PARTY

Before heading to Alumni Stadium, fans are encouraged to check out the Downtown Kickoff Party on Carden Street in Guelph featuring cheerleaders, mascots, a licensed food and beverage area, a splash pad for kids and a live performance by JUNO nominated band Hollerado.  

This free event is open to the general public and begins at 1 p.m.
