The Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import receiver Ed Gant, import defensive end Eric Norwood and non-import offensive lineman Carson Rockhill.
Gant, a 6-1, 192-pound native of Fort Myers, Florida, attended training camp with the Edmonton Eskimos last month after spending three seasons on the practice squads of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals. Before turning pro, he caught 44 passes for 732 yards and 14 touchdowns in 26 games at North Alabama.
Norwood, a 6-1, 240-pound native of Oakland, California, was selected in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers after being named first-team All-SEC three times and setting a new school record for quarterback sacks (29) at South Carolina. He has also played with the UFL’s Virginia Destroyers as well as the Arena Football League’s San Jose SabreCats and Pittsburgh Power.
Rockhill, a 6-6, 294-pound native of Parksville, British Columbia, joins the Tiger-Cats after taking part in training camp with the Edmonton Eskimos. Originally selected in the second round (13th overall) of the 2012 CFL Draft by Hamilton, Rockhill’s rights were sent to Edmonton as part of a five-player trade on February 2. Rockhill spent five seasons on the offensive line at the University of Calgary.
The Ticats also announced that non-import linebacker Philippe Dubuisson-Lebon and import receiver Lyle Leong Jr. have been released.
