End Of An Era: Final Regular Season Game At IWS This Saturday

The final regular season game in Ivor Wynne Stadium’s history takes place this Saturday, October 27.  The game, presented by Tim Hortons, kicks off at 1 p.m. but fans will want to enter the stadium and be in their seats well before kickoff to enjoy a day full of memories and tributes to one of Canada’s most revered stadiums.

Thirty minutes before kickoff, a collection of Tiger-Cats legends will take the field as the All-Time Tiger-Cats team presented by AM900 CHML is unveiled.  Throughout the season, fans took part in an online vote to select their favourite players at each position.  After receiving over 250,000 votes, the best players to ever wear Black and Gold will be introduced to the crowd at 12:30 p.m.

The Tiger-Cats will honour the 1972 Grey Cup championship team at halftime.  In 1972, the Ticats finished the season with an 11-3 record and would go on to capture the Grey Cup in front of a hometown crowd at Ivor Wynne.

After the final whistle, closing ceremonies will commence with tributes from Mayor of Hamilton, Bob Bratina, Ticats Caretaker Bob Young, former player Paul Osbaldiston as well as members of the Wynne and Timmis families.

The all-time team will take part in an autograph session for a limited number of season seat holders following the closing ceremonies.  Passes for the postgame autograph session will be available to season seat holders on a first-come, first-served basis inside the Beechwood gate at 11:30 a.m.

Every fan to enter the gates to witness this historic event will receive a keepsake commemorative ticket and lanyard courtesy of Tim Hortons.  Gates will open at 11:30 a.m.

In December, Ivor Wynne Stadium will be demolished to make way for the Hamilton Pan Am Soccer Stadium.  For more information about the world-class facility coming to Hamilton, please visit NewStadiumNewExperience.com.
