All-Time Team: Linebackers

Voting for the All-Time Tiger-Cats presented by CHML AM 900 continues with the linebackers as the latest group to be unveiled.

Leo Ezerins
Leo played 77 games over five seasons with the Tiger-Cats and was named an East Division All-Star once.

Zeno Karcz
Zeno Karcz suited up in 106 games for the Ticats over ten seasons.  He was named an East Division All-Star twice and a CFL All-Star once.  In 1965 Karcz was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian.

Bob Krouse
One of the most memorable linebackers in Ticats history, Krouse is probably best known for making the team directly out of high school.  He would go on to play 174 games over 13 seasons with the Black and Gold.  Krouse was named as an East Division All-Star in 1967.

Markeith Knowlton

Consistently one of the best defenders in the league since coming to the Ticats in 2008 from BC, Knowlton has played 72 games over the past four seasons for the Ticats.  He has been named an East Division All-Star three times and a CFL All-Star twice.  In 2010 Knowlton was recognized as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Jamall Johnson
One of the most feared linebackers in the league today, Johnson has played 50 games in Black and Gold over the last three seasons.  Johnson has been named an East Divison All-Star twice and a CFL All-Star once since arriving in Hamilton.

Mike O’Shea
Mike O’Shea played 66 games over four seasons in Hamilton, recording 368 tackles, an average of 92 tackles per season.  In his time with the Ticats, O’Shea was named an East Division All-Star three times and was recognized as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 1993.

Chris Shelling
Shelling played 82 games over six seasons with the Ticats, was named an East Divison All-Star twice and a CFL All-Star once.

Calvin Tiggle
Tiggle played 61 games over four seasons with the Tiger-Cats and was named an East Division and CFL All-Star twice.  In 1999 Tiggle was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player after recording 108 defensive tackles.

Frank Robinson
Robinson played 79 games over five seasons with the Tiger-Cats.  During his career in Hamilton, he was named an East Division All-Star twice and was nominated as the team’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player once.

Ben Zambiasi
The most decorated linebacker in Ticats History, Zambiasi played 142 games over ten seasons with the Tiger-Cats.  He was named a CFL All-Star six times and an East Division All-Star eight times during his career with the Black and Gold.

John Motton
Motton played 64 games over four seasons with the Ticats and was named a CFL and East Division All-Star twice during his career.  Motton was nominated as the Ticats Most Outstanding Rookie and Most Outstanding Defensive Player one time each.

Bob Kuntz
Kuntz played 58 games over five seasons with the Ticats in the early 60’s.  Kuntz was named an East Division and CFL All-star once each, and nominated by the team as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian once.
