Ticats Face Stampeders At Ivor Wynne This Thursday

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will look to secure their fourth straight win at Ivor Wynne Stadium this Thursday when they host the Calgary Stampeders at 7 p.m. presented by Pizza Pizza.

The first-place Tiger-Cats have been the CFL’s highest scoring team so far this season – averaging 32.4 points per game – and have scored at least 35 points in four consecutive games for the first time in franchise history.

Henry Burris will face his former squad for the first time since arriving in Hamilton in an off-season trade.  Burris’ outstanding start to the season earned him the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Month award after the veteran pivot threw for 1,540 yards and 15 touchdowns in the Ticats first five games.

The celebration of Final Season of Ivor Wynne Stadium presented by Tim Hortons continues on Thursday with a halftime tribute to legendary Ticats quarterback Danny McManus.  McManus re-wrote the Ticats record book during his eight seasons (1998-2005) in Hamilton, establishing new team highs for career passing yards (33,841), career touchdown passes (164), career pass completions (2,368), career pass attempts (4,257) and single season passing yards (5,334). In 1999, ‘Danny Mac’ was named the MVP of the Black and Gold’s Grey Cup championship, earning the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award and places on the CFL and East Division All-Star teams along the way.

The Junior Ticats Cheerleaders will also perform at halftime.

The gameday experience begins at the Beechwood Pre-Game Party.  Beginning at 5 p.m., the Ticats will shut down Beechwood Avenue for a streetfest full of inflatable games, great eats from Lick’s and much more.

The Coors Light Cold Zone will feature plenty of pre-game entertainment as well, including a live performance from Hamilton band Harlan Pepper presented by SiriusXM and the Coors Light Summer Mobile unit.

The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a Stirling Print Solutions game roster/poster of linebacker Renauld Williams with a donation to the Salvation Army.

Before kickoff, fans will be treated to a flyover by a B-25 Mitchell courtesy of the Canadian Warplance Heritage Museum while Rita Carrey will sing the national anthem.

Tickets are available by visiting Ticats.ca or calling the Ticats sales staff at 905-547-CATS.
