TORONTO — The Canadian Football League is mourning the loss of long time team executive Greg Mohns.

One of the most experienced football minds in the CFL, Mohns was a vital part of assembling championship squads in both BC and Toronto.

“I’m saddened to hear of Greg’s passing.  He was a good man who was held in high regard throughout the CFL.  On behalf of the Tiger-Cats organization, I’d like to offer our sympathies to Greg’s family and friends,” said Tiger-Cats Vice President of Football Operations Bob O’Billovich.

He joined the CFL in 1991 as the Director of Player Personnel with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, eventually becoming Toronto’s Assistant General Manager in 2005.

In 1998, Mohns joined the BC Lions as Assistant to the President. Mohns would become the Lions’ head coach, leading the club to a 22-12 record in 34 games.

His impressive record, which included going 22-9 in his final 31 outings, put him in third spot in the Lions’ all-time winning percentage list for head coaches.

Mohns also served one year as the Director of Player Personnel for the Memphis Mad Dogs in 1995, before joining the Argonauts as their Assistant GM and Director of Player Personnel in 1996. That year, the Argonauts went 17-3, en-route to winning the Grey Cup.

He returned to the Argonauts organization in 2003, and was ultimately promoted to Assistant GM in 2005.
