A pair of Hamilton Tiger-Cats have earned CFL Player of the Week awards for their efforts in the team’s 39-24 win over the Montreal Alouettes at Ivor Wynne Stadium last Saturday. QB Henry Burris has been named the Offensive Player of the Week while WR Andy Fantuz has been named the Canadian Player of the Week.
Burris put together one of the finest quarterbacking performances in recent memory on Saturday, throwing more touchdowns than incompletions as he connected on 27 of 30 attempts for 360 yards and four scores. Burris’ completion percentage (90%) tied Jason Maas for the fifth best single-game mark in CFL history and for the highest completion percentage in history with at least 30 attempts.
This season, Burris has racked up 1,184 passing yards and a league-leading 11 touchdown passes.
Fantuz was a frequent target of Burris’ against the Alouettes, hauling in eight passes for 135 yards and a touchdown. He currently leads the Ticats with 21 receptions for 298 yards and two touchdowns.
