Voting is now underway to determine the quarterback for the All-Time Tiger-Cats team presented by AM 900 CHML. The five nominees were unveiled last night exclusively on CHML AM 900 during The Tiger-Cats Show.
The Nominees
Tom Clements
A Tiger-Cat for four seasons, Clements was nominated by the team as the league’s Most Outstanding Player three times during his tenure in Hamilton, winning the award in 1981. His 65.2 completion percentage during the 1982 season still stands as a single season Ticats record to this day.
Bernie Faloney
Faloney suited up for the Ticats for eight seasons and was named an East Division All-Star during four of those. Faloney helped lead the team to a staggering seven Grey Cup appearances in his time in Black and Gold and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 1961.
Mike Kerrigan
Mike Kerrigan played eight seasons in Hamilton during two stints with the Ticats. His stellar play helped lead the Ticats to the Grey Cup in 1986, where he was named the game’s MVP. His 17, 761 passing yards still stand as the second most in team history.
Danny McManus
The owner of no fewer than six Tiger-Cats passing records, McManus’ greatest season was arguably in 1999, when he was named a CFL All-Star, awarded the league’s Most Outstanding Player honour and led the Black and Gold to the Grey Cup, where he was named the game’s MVP. McManus joined countless Ticat greats when he was elected to the CFL Hall of Fame in 2011.
Joe Zuger
Zuger’s career spanned 10 seasons (1962-71) and is best defined by the three Grey Cups that he helped bring home to Hamilton. Zuger’s most impressive feat was the game in which he threw for eight touchdowns on Oct. 15 1962 against Saskatchewan. This incredible feat still stands as a CFL record to to this day.
