TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts announced that 2012 CFL Canadian Draft pick DB Shea Pierre has signed with his hometown club through 2014. Toronto selected Pierre in the sixth-round, 41st overall.
Fans are invited to watch exclusive footage from Pierre’s 2012 CFL Evaluation Camp interview with the Argos’ defensive coaching staff on argonauts.ca.
“We’re happy to have signed Shea Pierre. He’s a good, local player with terrific speed who is similar in skill and makeup to Matt Black. Shea has a lot of self confidence which has served him well in man to man coverage schemes at the CIS level and will help him compete for a spot on our team,” said GM Jim Barker.
Pierre was born in Mississauga, played football for the OVFL’s Mississauga Warriors and trains in the off-season with new teammate Andre Durie – also originally from Mississauga.
During 2012 CFL Evaluation Camp, Pierre demonstrated his quickness and athleticism by ranking third among defensive backs in the shuttle (4.13), vertical jump (41”), bench press (16), and broad jump (9.10).
He also posted among the fastest overall times in the 40-yard dash, clocking in at 4.53 seconds (hand-held). The former Windsor Lancer impressed CFL scouts with a stellar 2011 year in which he started eight games as a senior and was named an OUA First-Team All-Star.
