HAMILTON, Ont. –With the eighth overall pick, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have selected Northern Illinois DB Courtney Stephen.

Last season, Stephen participated in six games with the Huskies.

In 2009, Stephen was selected as a second-team All-Candian while playing with Wilfrid Laurier. He later transfered to NIU.

Two picks later, the Tiger-Cats took Laval linebacker Frédéric Plesius.

Heading into today’s draft, Plesius carries with him a strong list of accolades. In 2011, he was named the RSEQ Defensive Player of the Year and was also named a first-team CIS All-Star.

Plesius finished first among all linebackers with a 4.63 40-yard dash time at E-Campand impressed scouts by pumping out 27 reps on the bench press.

With their third pick in the second round, the Tabbies then selected University of Calgary offensive lineman Carson Rockhill. Hamilton capped off the rest of their draft by selecting three more CIS players.

Laval’s Arnaud Gascon-Nadaud was taken 17th overall, while highly touted receiver Simon Charbonneau-Campeau was taken 25th overall, followed by Simon Fraser slotback Darron Palmer.
