Tiger-Cats Play Action Program

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have announced the creation of Play Action, a program in partnership with local minor football programs that will see the Ticats provide significant resources towards the development of grassroots football in TigerTown.

As partners in the Play Action program, teams from the Hamilton Minor Football Association, the Hamilton Wentworth Minor Football Association, the Burlington Minor Football Association and the Niagara Regional Minor Football Association will bear the Play Action logo on their jerseys and helmets and receive ample support from the Tiger-Cats, including:

* Financial Support
: The Ticats will provide financial assistance to each minor football association to help offset various costs.
* Annual Ticats Football Clinic: Minor football players from each association will have the opportunity to improve their skills at a clinic hosted by Tiger-Cats players.
* Equipment Donation
: The Ticats will distribute gently-used practice equipment to help improve the quality of minor football practices.
* Use of Stadium
: Each team associated with the Play Action program will have an opportunity to use the Ticats stadium for a practice or game.

“We are extremely proud of Play Action and our organization’s commitment to developing grassroots football in TigerTown.  In the coming years, we look forward to expanding this initiative with the addition of other minor football associations in Southwestern Ontario,” said President Scott Mitchell.

Each minor football association will also receive funding support generated by the team’s annual Touchdown Dinner and Awards.  The second annual Touchdown Dinner and Awards took place at Carmen’s Banquet Centre last night, generating over $30,000 in funds for local minor and junior football.

“On behalf of the minor football organizations fortunate enough to be a part of the Play Action program, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for their continued effort with the advancement of grassroots football in our area.  With the help and support from the program we will be able to maintain and improve our football programs for local youth,” said Hamilton Minor Football Association President Jim Gamble.

Dave Gagner, Vice President of Operations for the Burlington Minor Football Association commented, “Football is the ultimate sport. While teaching children the skills of the game it builds character; creating an understanding of what teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, integrity and what giving back are all about. These are life lessons that our youth can take with them as they grow and become a viable part of our communities in the future. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats organization has always understood that our youth look to them as the pinnacle of what a professional organization can and should be. The Play Action program represents yet another example of the Ticats continued commitment to the many youth football organizations in our community. This program will assist in allowing us to continue developing and strengthening football and proper development of our youth for many years to come.”
