OTIS FLOYD RETIRES AS A TIGER-CAT
Hamilton, Ontario – After 11 seasons in the Canadian Football League, veteran linebacker Otis Floyd officially announced his retirement today as a Hamilton Tiger-Cat.

“I’m happy to announce my retirement from the CFL today as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. When I came to Hamilton back in 2009, they welcomed me with open arms. I loved the atmosphere in TigerTown and the fans were great during my time here.”
Floyd continued, “I’d like to thank all of my former coaches and teammates as well as the fans in every city that cheered me on during my career. I’m proud of what I accomplished on the field and will appreciate the memories I have of playing in the CFL for the rest of my life,” said Floyd.
Floyd played in 164 games over 11 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos (2000), Calgary Stampeders (2001-03), BC Lions (2004-08) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2009-10). He finished his career with 588 defensive tackles and 39 quarterback sacks.
The Louisville product was named a West Division All-Star three times and earned Grey Cup rings in 2001 and 2006.
“It’s an honour to be here to witness Otis’ retirement. He’s been such a great player and ambassador for the CFL throughout his career and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to coach him for two seasons. Otis was a big part of turning this franchise around and you couldn’t ask for a better leader both on and off the field,” said head coach Marcel Bellefeuille.
Floyd will be at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Monday to lead the Ticats out of the tunnel before they take on the Montreal Alouettes.
