Gaiters welcome record recruiting class

LENNOXVILLE (CFL.ca wire) -– Bishop’s Gaiters head football coach Leroy Blugh is pleased to announce that a team-record 14 players have joined the team for the winter semester. The 14-player class includes five receivers, two running backs, four offensive linemen, two defensive backs and one defensive lineman.

The Winter 2008 class is highlighted by offensive lineman Dominick Richard, a Sherbrooke native, who joins the Gaiters after four seasons with the Cégep de Sherbrooke Volontaires. Richard was a key member of the Volontaires’ perfect 13-0 season, and was named a league all-star for the third straight season. He was also the 2005 Cégep AA Division 2 Offensive Lineman of the Year.

The class also includes four members of the St. Léonard Cougars, who were the 2007 Canadian Junior finalists, after posting an undefeated regular season. The influx of Cougars is headed two-time CJFL All-Canadian Delien Charles, and includes linemen Adamo Iadeluca and Josh McLellan, as well as running back Erik Rice.

The Gaiters have also received three incoming transfers, as Chris Bromfield and Brandon Weekes have transferred from the University of Ottawa, while Jérôme Roy has moved across town from the University of Sherbrooke.
