B.C. Lions BCFC Offensive Player of the Week
Andrew Harris – Running Back – Vancouver Island Raiders
The Raiders continued their undefeated run winning the B.C. Championship, the Cullen Cup, by defeating the Sun 42-28. Andrew Harris took the offensive honours for his outstanding performance as he consistently gained positive yardage and field position for the Raiders. Harris finished the day contributing 136 total offensive yards both on the ground and in the air including a 44-yard catch for a TD.
B.C. Lions BCFC Defensive Player of the Week
Lucas Desmet – Linebacker – Vancouver Island Raiders
Lucas Desmet was a stand out linebacker last season for his defensive dominance and this year is no different. An unsung hero most of the season, this Defensive MVP award is well deserved and a long time coming. Desmet controlled the middle field and was a force to be reckoned with racking up a game high 28 defensive points on 10 solo tackles, six assists and a fumble recovery.
“Lui Passaglia’s’’ BCFC Special Teams Player of the Week
Scott Dixon – Kicker – Vancouver Island Raiders
Chalk up another one for kicker Scott Dixon as he takes the MVP honours for this game. One of the most reliable kickers in the BCFC, Dixon once again made it look easy as he put up a 40-yard punting average kicking into strong gusting winds for much of the game. Add to that two field goals from 30 and 21 yards out, five converts, 306 yards on kick offs and two last-ditch tackles on Sun returners heading for the end zone and it’s clear why he’s the MVP on this day.
